It seems like everyone has gone absolutely Christmas mad, I know I’ve written posts about Christmas markets and events, but this week I’m going to give you a little breather and bring you things to escape the Christmas rush.
Got something for all of your senses here.
This weekend you could find yourself looking up at the bright lights and stars, maybe watching some live performances, puppetry even; this weekend The Brick Box have curated and produced, for the second year running, Light Night in Canning Town. This years theme is ‘The Fire and the Stars’ which centers around against traditions of gazing in to the fire and up at the stars. Artists will perform to reveal their own stories. There are hundreds of you music lovers in the city, and even more so, that love independent labels. This weekend the Independent Label Market is back for the Pre-Christmas rush. Some of the better known labels will be there; XL, 4AD, Domino, Mute and Hyperdub – but you better get their early to avoid the queues, as well as be in with a chance to grab yourselves some of the better deals. This weekend fairy will be coming together with the Make-A-Wish foundation and the Guinness World Records, to create the largest cake sculpture. And this is where you come in; for the record to count, the whole cake has to be eaten, will you be able to help? The cake will be a 12 meters by 10 meters winter wonderland cake that will be able to feed a whopping 12,000 people – better bring a mate along, you know, just in case. You can nab yourself a slice for only a minimal donation of £1 (of course you could be feeling charitable and offer more). To find out more, click here.
We hope to see some of you at these events over the weekend. What are you up to? Let us know in the comments below.
